Бинарные (двоичные) датчики вырабатывают сигнал только двух уровней: "включено/выключено" (иначе говоря, 0 или 1).

Binary sensors allow Z-Wave devices with a binary output to communicate with your home automation network. These sensors can be used to collect data from various remote locations, and then the data can be communicated wirelessly via the Z-Wave network.

Binary sensors eliminate the need for complex wiring, and can be easily paired with other sensors like Temperature sensors or Door and Window Sensors.
